Movies - The Fifth Element

These are some of my all time favorite movies. Watching these will help you get a grasp on my personality and sense of humor. Im posting the link to my zshare account. You can watch the movies, streaming, in your browser. This list will be updated with regularity. Enjoy.

The Fifth Element is a 1997 science fantasy, action-comedy, techno thriller film directed by Luc Besson, starring Bruce Willis, Gary Oldman,Milla Jovovich, Ian Holm, and Chris Tucker. Mostly set during the twenty-third century, the film's central plot involves the survival of humanity, which becomes the duty of a taxicab driver (and former special forces major) named Korben Dallas (Willis) when a young woman (Jovovich) falls into his taxicab. Upon learning of her significance, Korben must join efforts with the girl and a monk (Holm) to recover four mystical stones which are key to defending Earth from an impending attack of pure evil and destruction.

Largely set in a futuristic New York City, the film was a French production, with most of the principal photography filmed at Pinewood Studiosin England. Some scenes were also shot on location in Mauritania. The concert scenes were filmed at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, except for the special effect shots that show the Planet Fhloston through the ship's portholes. The Fifth Element was shot in Super 35 mm film format. Many scenes contain visual effects, and nearly all of visual effects scenes are hard-matted.

Shit week for Vancouver

Marc Emery, the Prince of Pot, has started his 5 years sentence. He is at the North Fraser jail, where he will be for the next 30 days, as there is a 30 day appeal period before extradition. and then he's off to the states, southern California i believe, to serve his sentence. Now, this drives me mad for two reasons. First, is the obvious reason, of putting a man in jail for helping people suffering with chronic pain and terminal illnesses get through their days, by helping them feel human again. And second, this is a blow to Canadian Sovereignty. Since when has our police force been the lackeys of the Americans..wait, i guess they always have, never mind.

"On July 29, 2005, Canadian police, acting on a request from the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, simultaneously raided the BC Marijuana Party Bookstore and Headquarters in Vancouver and arrested Emery for extradition to the United States outside a local storefront in the community of Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia where he was attending a HempFest. Emery and co-defendants Gregory Keith Williams, 50, of Vancouver, BC and Michelle Rainey-Fenkarek, 34, of Vancouver, BC are charged with "'Conspiracy to Distribute Marijuana", "Conspiracy to Distribute Marijuana Seeds" and "Conspiracy to Engage in Money Laundering". Canadian police have not laid charges.

Emery was freed on a $50,000 bail and prepared to fight extradition in the courts." <Source:CTV News>

Thats how he was arrested. and it sets precedent. this will not be the last time an activist in Canada, who becomes a target of the American Empire, will be arrested in Canada, and tried and jailed in the states. The fact that we still live in drug prohibition in North America astounds me. The proof, both theory and real world, is right in front of us that prohibition is not working, it is making things worse. But this is a rant for another post :D

And now, A blow to the Underground music scene in Vancouver. The Cobalt, a dingy hole-in-the-wall venue opened by Wendy 13 on Main Street. This venue has hosted several thousand bands in its history. Unfortunatly, with the building being owned by the Sahota family, a family of slumlords, who are interested in profiting in the benefits that gentrification of North Main Street will bring. That combined with the fact that The Cobalt lies close to the security zones and is on one of the "pedestrian corridors" for the Olympics. <MAP> It's all politics and greed; and art and music and culture get the shitty end of the stick. As usual. For more check this out <NEWS 1130> Hopefully next week will be better for Vancouver.

First Post

I decided to finally create a blog. I am unable to continue keeping my thoughts and opinions to myself. I have to share my unique perspective of the world, and the creatures and things within it. or on it. This blog will have news, of all types, and my own commentary added, or just random thoughts.
